1. My people threaten me with death, yet
I shall only die when the ordained book comes.

2. Perhaps destiny will bring wealth near,
And we'll live honored or die and be killed.

3. Have you not seen that poverty demeans its people,
While wealth confers status and luxury?

4. If you bear a spear and a well-honed sword,
And venture forth into the fray, fortune will favor you.

5. Unless you ride out to face terror,
You’ll not gain sufficient wealth to suffice a friend.

6. When the pot has no cook and is tired of life,
I care not which of us dies first.
