1. Darkness enveloped it, so I saddled the dark one,
And set up the Pleiades above, two bright stars for it.

2. An eagle flew with it, snatching prey,
In the evening it plays with the reins, docile.

3. The darkness jostled within it, in the pillars of the temple,
Had it jostled a towering giant, it would have collapsed.

4. In a sedan whose dew glistens like a page,
Its breeze sweetly inhaled.

5. Its hanging droplets nearly sipped
Like a lip sipping its lightning’s smile.

6. On a night in which I sang, bending,
Enchanted, and the journey made me happy, I hummed.

7. The crescent crawled in it like a scorpion
And the bend of the galaxy slithered.

8. Towards the sanctuary a virginal glance turned,
Bending the reins towards the sanctuary.

9. If only I turned the necks of the steeds winding,
And dismounted to embrace the hills submissively,

10. Inhaling the breath of acceptance, and maybe
I would ignite desire’s flint to inhale.

11. So I shed the tears of sorrow in streams,
If only the ribs’ curves ached.

12. In a dwelling which the steeds’ hooves never trod,
Nor the camels' feet marked.

13. I honored it from being treaded on,
And the likes of it should be honored.

14. The eye of the cloud wept drops over it,
And sometimes the steed neighed and snorted.

15. No ruins reminded me of the past in it,
Except that I wept, and its valley streamed blood.

16. I elegized, grieving, and sometimes
The pigeon cooed, responding to me, learning.
