1. Do I see mountain gazelles in the valleys, or a hyena
Stripped of their gazes for us, a gift

2. White are for us, they stripped every adorned one
Smoother than a polished blade striking

3. Look with your eye towards them, for their forms have appeared
Images that amazed with their beauty

4. The soft-limbed one with coiled tresses
A sun that shone with rays from the nooks

5. She turned to me a cup of her wine
Like aged sacrificial blood it will not coagulate

6. So when she turned her wine red to me
I bent it with white or yellow

7. As if a planet amidst the darkness
Beauty turns above the carpets like a planet

8. I kissed a scorpion from her and sucked
The sting of her scorpion was sweet for us

9. And I quenched my soul from her sips
Sweeter than rainwater and more delicious

10. No sooner she glanced with her eyes except she left
My heart tossed on embers of passion

11. She unveiled a hidden pearl I yearned for
Splitting the heart from its love, tortured

12. A pearl that glitters though it has no holes
Like a drilled and stringed pearl

13. And evening I bid her farewell, the caravan had
Tightened the mounts to depart

14. She inclined to bid farewell and waved
A palm that bids me farewell blood stained

15. And there her veil was lifted
What was veiled by the veil was unveiled

16. The fire of love was kindled and blazed within
Our hearts, embers of passion burned

17. She who surpassed all admonishers
In her chaste love, blamed and admonished

18. I accompanied life with a shining face
And accompanied it after with a white beard

19. I saw in its nature and manners
Fickle, changing, tossing

20. And I attained from it a basin of fresh water that turned
Turbid and bitter for me

21. No sooner it cleared a drink or food for me
Except it spoiled a drink or food

22. No sooner it smiled at me affectionately
Except it scowled afterwards and frowned

23. How many hopes were betrayed by one who beguiled with affection
While harboring malice and pretended love

24. Life robbed me like a black crow
Until after difficulties it left me gray-haired

25. Woe to you! How can one escape its twisting fortunes
If he finds no refuge from it on earth

26. The far became nearer than a bow's shot
In measurement and nearer in proximity

27. Ask me and take my advice, you will find me truthful
In opinion, aiming for what is right and proper

28. And if tested, you will find me firm
Shielding and protecting steadfastly

29. I am a man who has experienced life, not like one
Who has not experienced what one experienced

30. I do not covet vile greed, and never was
Covetous when fortune’s lightning flashed

31. One cannot excel if he does not strive, even if
He gathered helpers and means

32. How many miracles I came with, miracles that
Leave the eloquent sage confounded

33. If the shining sun of knowledge saw me
And unveiled the darkness of ignorance

34. If I rode the camel of problems, so that without ships
Its back was a ship for me

35. I coursed in seeking knowledge, appearing in the simple desert
Rising or setting

36. While the free light their faces if they shine
Seeking knowledge and glory, dark and ashen

37. And I made etiquette a habit for it
Patience an obligation, humility a creed

38. And praise a caring brother, and knowledge
A mother, and glory I called its father

39. Bounties have attributed me as if they
Attributed to themselves Qa'qabiyya

40. Embroidered by time, I gifted it
The southern breeze, the scented winds

41. The clouds poured its tears on it until
It ceased not to wipe and spill

42. So it quenched it after drinking, and dressed it
In flowers, a wondrous attire

43. Until its light smiled after the spring nights
That accompanied its darknesses, fertile

44. It describes Araar's nature spreading Araar's meadows
But it found more delicious and sweeter

45. The just king whose manners are to the loyal
Sweeter than the breath of youth

46. Ranks ascended with him until they ended
A lion and a bow in the sky and a scorpion

47. It kindled his insight and sharpened his resolve
Dispelling afflictions when it reasoned and refined

48. It did not succumb to the days with their events
And afflictions, but was ever triumphant

49. A deep sea, if it grants and bestows
A tall mountain, when called upon and loved

50. And a polished blade when wielded
None can withstand its cutting off of calamities

51. And a lion defending its cub
Sometimes, and pouncing with its claws at times

52. Never did it brandish its fox spear in fray
Except it pierced the fox's abdomen

53. The virgins of bounties forget him not
Praising him, as did Virtue, Abundance, and Zainab

54. If his patience and dignity were weighed
They would outweigh, bulk for bulk, a mule or gazelle

55. O star of the heights and its splendor, you who
For your companion lowered a wing and made room

56. I forgot not the manners that resembled
The meadows at first rains, fresh and raining

57. So ascend, as providence issued its decree for your ancestor
I made you a refuge for me when the torrent overflowed
