1. And knowledge gushing from its shores
Its virtues encompass all mankind

2. Watering every valley with gnosis rain
This ink's spring is now a sweet source

3. To seekers of knowledge, a treasure, a resource
Protecting the noble Law and its people

4. A leader of interpretation without recourse
Thus he's called the Judge of sacred law

5. For his lofty knowledge none else draw
Who compare him to others, miss his praise

6. Where is pleiades next to specks of straw?
All scholars know his superior grace

7. Before al-Shafi'i they're out of place
He's the Kaaba of endless gifts, so one who aspires

8. Should seek this master for bounty and embrace
Visit al-Shafi'i and you'll discover

9. Generosity, leaving happy, hopes recover
Stay by his side, cling to his abode

10. A meadow of virtues will around you hover
Who visits al-Shafi'i's tomb, aid he grants

11. Till one returns praising and give thanks
He bestows plenty on those who draw near

12. His lofty station, profiting without banks
O people here lies the refuge, so one

13. Who enters this sanctuary, aims are won
If you fear time's tyranny, come to this guard

14. Imploring his side, seeking his succor
There you'll thrive in life and beyond

15. Under God's care, venerated and fond
O best of those, kings stood at your door

16. Drawing your kindness, generous and fond
Look at those who've come as if they sped

17. From afar, pilgrims to Mecca's widespread
Seeking your gift, fulfill their wishes

18. With hospitality and boons as you've led
Protect Egypt's land and its king

19. Guard the jurists, the apex of every thing
Grant the Caliph of Muslims grace

20. To remain supported and triumphing
You remain the greatest place of mercy

21. Your spirit's perfume makes the air heady
