1. I called for water in a vessel, so a boy
Brought it to me pure, and I chided him
١. دعوتُ بماءٍ في اِناءٍ فجاءني
غلامٌ بها صرفاً فأوسعتُه زَجْرا
2. Sternly. But he said, “It is limpid rain-water;
My ruddy cheeks made you think it was wine.”
٢. فقالَهو الماءُ القَراحُ واِنَّما
تجلَّى لها خدَّي فأوهمكَ الخَمْرا
