1. When hardship befalls me, I hope you live healthy while I'm ill,

Yet kept silent about my affairs and wishes out of resentment?

And it suffices you as nobility to dishonor and honor.

4. I'm ashamed before God to see an oppressor of those close to me, or see myself oppressed.
I shall take my right from myself for your sake,

5. And pardon you if you don't keep our pact out of nobility.
It's not only myself I care for, but also to protect my friend from tyranny and injustice.

6. If told to choose between attaining you or your rectitude,
I'd prefer you disobey my passions and remain secure.

7. You were more deserving of me than yearning and desire,
And you were the most fulfilled in my conscience.

8. So why have I distanced myself as if I'm a foe,
When I was the most beloved and brought near?
