1. A brother you have, whom time has made an enemy,
So among his concerns are disastrous ends,
١. أَخٌ لَكَ عاداهُ الزَمانُ فَأَصبَحَت
مُذَمَّمَةً فيما لَدَيهِ العَواقِبُ
2. Whenever trials give him a companion of men,
The trials return him to you again.
٢. مَتى ما تُذَوِّقهُ التَجارِبُ صاحِباً
مِنَ الناسِ تَردُدهُ إِلَيكَ التَجارِبُ
